Hourly Diary: Getting the Moderna Vaccine
12:10 AM — Finally logged out after sending one last work email.
3:40 AM — Went to sleep after fidgeting, listening to the Jessica Simpson memoir, and writing lots of lists. Falling asleep has been really difficult since Daylight Savings.
7:10 AM — Woke up and realized that I did not have any coffee beans. Spent 10 minutes trying to pick a cute outfit for getting my vaccine, but I just went with my standard Girlfriend Collective set and a flannel.
8:10 AM — Picked up a friend who was going to accompany me, just in case there were extra vaccines at the site. Doesn’t hurt to ask, right?
8:20 AM — It looked like we had enough time for a McDonald’s breakfast. My friend is hash brown’s biggest fan, and I am in desperate need of coffee.
9:00 AM — Arrived at Dodger Stadium a bit earlier than my appointment time, but I anticipated sitting in line for quite some time. I was right. Felt very wise about bringing along a greasy breakfast.
9:30 AM — When we asked about extra vaccines the guy checking us in said, “we don’t do that here." He was really cute. Thinking that half the people I interact with are cute seems to be a side effect of the pandemic—daydreaming about what they look like underneath the mask.
9:40 — I rolled down the window and they booped my arm with the COVID juice aka vaccine.
10:00 AM — The guy seemed to get cuter as we waited to be cleared to head home. At last, it was time to say goodbye. I knew not his name nor the bottom half of his face. Farewell.
11:00 AM — Time for my first Microsoft Meeting meeting of the day. Oh boy.
12:00 PM — The wooziness hit.
4:00 PM — Several meetings later, I had to tap out for the day. Slipped into bed and PTFO.
8:00 PM — Woke up hungry but not hungry. Trudged over to 7-11 for gatorade and gummy bears. This would sustain me.
9:30 PM — Was informed by some friends that intense side effects from the first dose is possibly an indicator of previously having COVID-19. The second dose is supposed to really knock you on your ass. I made a note to take some days off.
